Metropolitan of Volokolamsk receives US ambassador to Russia

The Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, His Eminence Hilarion, on Wednesday received the US ambassador to Russia, John J. Sullivan.

Hilarion, who is also the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external Church relations, welcomed the top US diplomat in the country to the synodal building. The Metropolitan later expressed the Church’s condolences over the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He also briefed the ambassador on the Russian Church’s ministry amid the ongoing pandemic.
