Feast day of Euphemia the Great Martyr
The Church today venerates the memory of Euphemia the Great Martyr.
St. Euphemia was from Chalcedon and lived in virginity. According to accounts, she suffered martyrdom during the reign of the Emperor Diocletian in the early fourth century. Her sacred relics are preserved at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople.
A Divine Liturgy was held on the saint’s feast day at the Patriarchal Skete of St. Spyridon on the Marmara Sea island of Halki.
