Church of Albania to press for information on missing clerics, laymen who disappeared during communist dictatorship
The Autocephalous Church of Albania this week announced an initiative to learn the circumstances behind the disappearance and fate of missing clerics and laymen who were arrested by the communist regime which ruled the country with an iron fist for more than four decades. A first action was a photo exhibition in Tirana, attended by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, dedicated to the victims of the atheist communist dictatorship that ruled Adriatic country.
The remains of many of the dictatorship’s victims have never been recovered.
The Orthodox Bishop of Vilidos, His Grace Astios, represented the Archdiocese of Tirana.
