Metropolitan of Corfu arrives on Mount Athos

The Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxous and the Diapontian isles, His Eminence Nektarios, arrived on Mount Athos over the weekend, where he was present for the Holy Vigil on the Eve of the Great Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, as based on the Julian calendar, conducted at the Protaton, the Holy Cathedral of the Protos, or chairman of the rotating administrative council, in the semi-autonomous monastic community’s capital of Karyes.
His Eminence also visited the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, where he warmly greeted by monks of the Vatopedi brotherhood. The Metropolitan of Corfu later addressed the monastery’s elders before the evening meal.
