The Church today venerates the memory of Sisoes the Great.
This saint, great and renowned among the ascetics of Egypt, lived in the 4th century in the skete of Nitria.
After the death of St. Anthony the Great, he left the skete, an Orthodox monastic community that allows for the relative isolation for monks, to live in St. Anthony’s cave.
