Restoration of deserted church of St. Tryfonas on Imvros commence

Efforts have commenced to repair and restore the deserted church of St. Tryfonas on the northeast island of Imvros, with the assistance of natives of the isle from around the world, in cooperation with the Imvrian union of Macedonia-Thrace and the Metropolitan of Imvros and Tenedos, His Eminence Kirillos.
The initiative comprises a commemorative donation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the enthronement of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I.

The Ecumenical Patriarch was born and raised on the island, inhabited by Greeks for millennia and a noteworthy center of Hellenism, but nevertheless awarded to Turkey in 1923 Treaty of Lausanne.
