Bishopric of Raska & Prizren replies to threats by Kosovo Albanian leadership: ‘Church isn’t required by law to apply for permit to perform religious ceremonies on its property’

The Orthodox Church in the strife-plagued Kosovo and Metohija province remained under siege by the Kosovo Albanian forces in the region, days after the first Divine Liturgy in 23 years was celebrated at the unfinished Cathedral of the Savior in the city of Pristina.

A bevy of Kosovo Albanian politicians and officials subsequently reiterated claims opposing ownership of the Cathedral by the Serbian Orthodox Church.

In an immediate reply, the Bishopric of Raska and Prizren reminded that “…there is no legally valid act that disputes ownership rights of the Serbian Orthodox Church to this cathedral, nor any that considers the building as illegal. As a result, the Church is not required by law to apply for a permit to perform religious ceremonies on its property.”
