Celebration of Ecumenical Patriarch’s name day

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew, on Friday officiated at the Divine Liturgy for the Holy Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas, with the service held at the Patriarchal Cathedral.

Friday marked the Ecumenical Patriarch’s name day.

A day earlier, His All Holiness presided over the Grand Vespers at the Monastery of the Zoodochos Pigi in the Balikli district, for the Synaxis, or composition, of the hymn “Axion Estin”.
Several hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, delegations from the Autocephalous Churches of Cyprus and of the Ukraine, hierarchs of the Church of Greece and the Georgian Orthodox Church, Abbots of Mount Athos and Greek Deputy FM Costas Vlassis, among several diplomats, were present, along with faithful from Constantinople and pilgrims from abroad.
