Patriarch of Alexandria receives visiting chief of Cypriot National Guard

The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, on Monday received the visiting chief of the Republic of Cyprus’ National Guard, Lt. Gen. Democritos Zervakis, at the Patriarchal See.

In greeting the visiting general staff commander, His Most Divine Beatitude expressed the Alexandria Patriarchate’s gratitude for the support extended by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, the Archbishop of Cyprus, His Eminence Chrysostomos, and the entire Cypriot people for the Church’s missionary work on the African continent.

Lt. Gen. Zervakis arrived in Egypt for talks with the country’s military leadership, including Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki and his counterpart, Lt.-Gen Mohamed Farid Hegazi.
