Holy Synod three-hierarch com’t meets with education ministry leadership over controversial draft bill with provisions on ecclesiastical academies
According to reports by the Orthodoxia news agency, a committee of three hierarchs appointed by the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece met today with an education ministry-affiliated committee for ecclesiastical education – with talks focusing directly on a draft bill affecting the four post-secondary Orthodox ecclesiastical academies operating in the country.
Members of the Holy Synod committee also met with Deputy Education Minister Angelos Syrigos, before heading off to brief the leaderships of the ecclesiastical academies at the Holy Monastery of Petraki, in central Athens.
