Mid-Pentecost commemorated today

The Church today commemorates the 4th Wednesday after Pascha, Holy and Great Easter – also known as the Mid-Pentecost. Today is also the feast day of Carpos and Alphaeus, Apostles of the 70.

First vote on long-awaited bill to allow Greek citizens to vote from abroad fails to reach necessary support. A draft bill expanding the right of Greek citizens to cast a ballot from abroad for general elections in Greece failed to reach the increased majority of 200 deputies (of the 300 MPs in Parliament) during a vote on Wednesday.
The draft bill was brought by the center-right party, and supported by ruling New Democracy, the KINAL party and the Greek Solution party. Voting against were leftist and far-leftist parties.
