Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I attends fast-breaking dinner hosted by Turkish president
The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Wednesday evening attended an Iftar dinner, the Muslim fast-breaking meal in the evening, hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Primates and leaders of the country’s religious minority leaders.
The reception was hosted at the presidential complex in Ankara.
The Iftar dinner is offered during the period of Ramadan, as observed by Muslims, immediately after end of a daily daybreak-to-sunset fast.
The Ecumenical Patriarch, who was accompanied by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, expressed his best wishes to Erdoğan, and to all Muslims in Turkey.
His All Holiness also thanked Erdogan for his best wishes to the Christians of Turkey, on the occasion of last weekend’s Holy and Great Easter Sunday.
